A Whisper Louder Than Fear | Qiuyi Hu | TEDxNACIS Shanghai Youth

A former “mosquito-voiced” girl shares her visceral battle with stage fright during a make-or-break presentation. Through trembling hands and sweat-soaked clothes, she discovered true bravery: not fearless perfection, but imperfect action. This raw account reframes anxiety as a catalyst for growth, proving our scariest moments often become the ones that teach us how strong we really are. I’m a debater, photographer, and someone deeply passionate about natural disaster prevention. If you describe me like “dynamic”, “outgoing”, and “creative”, you’d be absolutely right. I thrive on connection, communication, and the exchange of ideas, which is why I’m constantly engaging with people from all walks of life.As a debater, I’ve honed my ability to think critically, argue persuasively, and see issues from multiple perspectives. Debate has taught me the power of words and the importance of listening, skills I now use to coach others and help them find their voices. I also teach oral English to primary school children, which is incredibly fulfilling. Watching young minds grow in confidence as they learn to express themselves is one of the most rewarding parts of my life.
