The Weight of our Words | Sfiyah Alli | TEDxNewtons Grove Youth
In my TED talk, I will discuss how our words can have an impact on everyone around us and why we need to understand this. Recently, I have become immersed in the world of reading and writing, and I have fallen in love with the way words can be used to move people. This has made me realize the power words have, and prompted me to share how they have the potential to hit harder than any action.
Hi, my name is Sfiyah Alli, and I am a Grade 9 student at Newton’s Grove School. I absolutely love the arts, whether it is music, visual arts or drama. I have a deep adoration for anything with a creative aspect, as they provide an output for my thoughts and feelings. I strive to connect with others and inspire people with my actions, words, and art, as many have done for me.
I have been public speaking since I came to this school in Grade 7, and have loved the opportunity to have a presence on stage. Since I was young, I have loved to talk about anything, and everything, and public speaking has given me the chance to share my thoughts, sway others with my words, grow my confidence, and improve my ability to connect. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
