What Are You Willing to Walk 500 Miles For? | Lauren Dollie Duke | TEDxOjai
What are you willing to walk 500 miles for? Many people know what it feels like to fight with family, but what happens when we begin to realize that we don’t have to change the people in order to change the pattern? Author, educator and storyteller Lauren Dollie Duke shares her journey of walking 500 miles with her family, and how long-distance walking provided the perfect modality for intergenerational change and healing. Her message will encourage you to look in the mirror and see how we might all change the roles we play in our relationships, especially those into which we were born. Lauren Dollie Duke, an author, educator, psychological storyteller, entrepreneur, and community activist, has been a driving force in her community for over twenty years. Her role as a Yoga teacher and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner is not just about the BodyMind Continuum but also about fostering a sense of community and social change.
With a Master’s degree in Psychology and invaluable mentorship from leading traumatologists such as Bessel van der Kolk, Peter A. Levine, and Stephen Porges, Lauren’s debut Memoir: “Sh!thouse,” published in January 2022, is a testament to her commitment to addressing generational trauma. She is currently working on her second book about healing generational wounds, furthering her mission to inspire change. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
