The power of being ‘hormonal’ | Zarah Khondoker | TEDxRutgers

Zarah discusses the often-overlooked importance of hormones and how multifaceted their nature is. Her talk will also portray their role in reproductive health, as well as how they shape the well-being of current and future generations. Zarah Khondoker is an incoming graduate student at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, having completed her undergraduate studies in Public Health at Rutgers University. As the founder and host of The Hormonal Podcast, she curates historical narratives, academic research, and personal accounts to illuminate the critical role of hormones in reproductive health and fertility, exploring both its historical roots and future implications. Her interests span a range of public health issues—from the portrayal of hormones in literature and media to the impact of environmental toxins and endocrine disruptors on reproductive health, as well as addressing significant gaps in medical knowledge regarding fertility and the environmental influences affecting young people. Passionate about reproductive endocrinology and maternal health epidemiology, Zarah aspires to complete a PhD in Reproductive Epidemiology while continuing to raise awareness through her writing and podcast. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
