Video Games: It’s Better Than You Think | Chengen Zhou | TEDxNACIS Shanghai Youth
This talk reframes video game “addiction” as powerful narrative engagement, revealing how mirror neurons create profound empathy through interactive storytelling. Proposing to harness gaming’s immersive tech for education, the speaker demonstrates how first-person historical simulations could transform learning from memorization into emotional experience – turning classrooms into portals for time travel and perspective-shifting. I am currently 15 and studying in Grade 9. My favorite food is anything Cantonese, they are absolutely delicious and come in a huge variety. In terms of hobbies, I obviously enjoy playing video games, but I also love playing the piano, so much so in fact that I am part of the school’s Musical Band and Symphony Orchestra. My favorite subject is history, which is unfortunate since we don’t have that anymore all the way until IB History (sad face). I absolutely adore cats, dogs, capybaras, anything that is fluffy and cute, though I don’t have a pet of my own (I wish I did though). And yeah, that’s it. Have a good day!
