Society’s Stopwatch | Esam Taher | TEDxOldSconaAcademic

Oftentimes society likes to make everything relative to each other. Our success is relative to others’ success around us – time and age are not a metric at which we can determine how successful we are. No matter what age, if you can accomplish something fulfilling, that’s all that matters. As a grade 10 student at Old Scona Academic, Esam likes to spend his free time reading fantasy books, printing trinkets on his 3D printer, and playing tennis with his friends and family. However, as a high-school student, he also has first-hand experience witnessing how mental and academic burnout affects students, and aims to address the conditions and consequences of the pressures on our society’s youth in his talk. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
