Canvas to Currency | Jayden Nkindi Uwishaka | TEDxAfricanLeadershipAcademy

We don’t question the role engineers or doctors play,
yet creatives, the people who shape culture, inspire
change, and fuel entire economies are asked,
“What’s your backup plan?” This isn’t just a misconception; it’s
a carefully crafted illusion, one that limits not just creatives,
but the potential of an entire continent and a whole generation.
With this TEDx talk, I aim to change the way we see
creativity-not as a luxury, but as a necessity. Art and business
aren’t opposites; they’re powerful tools for shaping
Africa’s future. I aim to challenge that mindset and
show why creative careers are not just viable but vital. Jayden is a Rwandan artist who is passionate about all things
unconventional. Through his art brand Prying Eyes he explores how art
can make an economic impact in African societies. In his TEDx talk he
hopes to explore how art and financial liberty in Africa are
interconnected. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
